Abstract:Any theological reflection on the spiritual motherhood of Mary and her relationship with the Church must be grounded in the fundamental recognition and proclamation of the uniqueness of Christ’s mediation. In this light, a central question arises: what is the nature and theological foundation of the doctrine of Mary’s spiritual motherhood as articulated in the Dogmatic Constitution Lumen Gentium of the Second Vatican Council? This research aims to provide a thorough analysis of how the Second Vatican Council, through Lumen Gentium, addresses and theologically justifies the doctrine of Mary’s spiritual motherhood. Guided by two key questions: (1) How does the Dogmatic Constitution Lumen Gentiumtheologically present the doctrine of Mary’s spiritual motherhood? and (2) What specific theological criteria does Lumen Gentium offer to support this doctrine?;the study focuses on describing the conciliar framework and identifying the theological principles employed to establish this teaching. Utilizing a descriptive-dialectical methodology, the text offers a clear and in-depth examination of the doctrine as developed in one of the Council’s most significant documents.
